This is the 6th illustration – probably the 6th of 14!

Here is a series on the unfinished illustration, which will eventually be of the children planting seeds. This will be important in the story later on. A complicated picture, and only half done. But it is a beautiful feeling to paint this – I am painting my garden! This is interesting, because, in the summer I feel my gardening is creating a picture, but now I am creating my garden on paper by painting. I often have to refer to my summer photos, or if I have nothing, Google images.
Outside we still have 4 or 5 feet of snow!!! So gardening in my illustrations is lovely!

One thing that has to be done regularly is to lay everything out to see that the colour values are even (which above they are not!) So revisions are coming up!
The picture in the middle is larger, because I decided – unfortunately after the fact – that it should be the cover. The cover needs extra paper to wrap around the hard cover, so I had to glue the picture onto another paper and extend the painting. The photographer for the book will be able to smudge out the separation line.

Here is the random beginnings of the cover photo of Little Star Lost, to be published in 2019. Follow the website to stay with the wonderful journey of creating this beautiful book! ‘Follows’ at bottom right on this page!
Now a sequel book is well underway.
What is it about? Many have asked me what happens to the little child that was left behind.
If you count the star children going home with the sun, you will see that one is missing. There is a little bit of a mauve hat disappearing over the hill on the left of the sun page. The sunbeam is reaching down trying to get a hold of that one. But then on the very last page, there is a little star child creeping along the ground, left behind. That is where The Star Children ends, and where the new book begins.
A little lost star child! What will that one do? What happens?
