Besides telling the story, these illustrations were meant to serve also as a doorway to communicate with your child about inner things – thoughts, experiences, questions, and feelings. One could say that the earth children represent a horizontal, grounded and embodied experience, but nevertheless the precious experience of being in nature and on planet earth, while the star children represent a more vertical experience, a different order of being, closer to Essence. The adult reading this story to a child cannot really address the experiences of the star children from the linear mind. One needs an inner attunement and experience – but the images and words nevertheless stand as truth in metaphor, archetypal realities. They are seeds planted.
